Plastic Container Types
The common plastic container forms and what each is good for.

Bottles, jars, jugs, pails, tubes, and tubs each solve a different handling problem. Within them, resin choice drives clarity, barrier, and chemical resistance: PET for clarity and barrier, HDPE for toughness and chemical resistance, PP for heat resistance and hinges, PVC for clarity in specific applications.
Neck finish is the compatibility layer. A 28/410 bottle takes a 28/410 closure regardless of who made either, which is why standard finishes make a package easy to source and re-source.
- PET: clarity, barrier, lightweight
- HDPE: toughness, chemical resistance, opaque
- PP: heat resistance, living hinges
- PVC: clarity for select applications
