Packaging Industry Information
Background reading on how the packaging supply chain works, and why lead times move.

Most stock containers are held by distributors and imported in container loads, which means availability follows import schedules rather than a factory shelf. Custom moulds add tooling lead time on top of production time.
Decoration adds a separate step: screens must be made and approved, then parts printed and cured. Planning backwards from a retail launch date — rather than forwards from a purchase order — is the single most reliable way to avoid a missed date.
